Can a Polka Dot chocolate bar really make you feel like you’re on a magic mushroom trip? We tried it out to find out!
Polka Dot chocolate bars are, as the name suggests, exactly what they look like – chocolate bars with polka dots! And they’re not just any old chocolate bars either – they’re infused with magic mushrooms to make you feel like you’ve been transported to another world… right in the middle of Trafalgar Square no less! But are they really that trippy? Is there actually enough magic mushroom in them to get you off your face or will you be left wanting more? We put one of these things to the test and find out! About Magic Mushroom Chocolate BarsÂ
Although these bars might look more like novelty items, they’re based on actual science behind psychedelic mushrooms. Psilocybin—the chemical in magic mushrooms that causes hallucinations—is supposed to be able to help with weight loss, especially if you have severe depression. The only problem is that most people will have to dose themselves with psilocybin in order for any sort of hallucinogenic effect to kick in.

If you’re like me, that question is probably running through your head right now. Let’s take a closer look at what might be in these psychedelic chocolates.
How they are made
Anish Rambani, who is founder of online natural skincare and wellness retailer Ashvita, said he first came up with his idea for a polka dot chocolate bar when he was tripping on magic mushrooms in Amsterdam. I could see these incredible patterns of dots all over my hands, he told us. So, together with his wife Raji, who is also co-founder of Ashvita, they decided to put their vision into action.
The Taste Test
The first thing we noticed was how rich and creamy it was. Chocolate bars are very hardy, but many actually just taste like sugar with some cocoa in them—just ask any child of the 90s. While that’s not necessarily a bad thing, there’s something comforting about biting into a candy bar and noticing that yes, they did use actual chocolate. The entire package tastes of bittersweet chocolate with an aftertaste reminiscent of coffee.
Final Thoughts
This was by far one of my favorite assignments for class. The requirements were very open-ended and had us write about whatever we wanted, which is something I’m always a fan of. The best part was getting to post our blogs, even if they were not published professionally or went viral…it still felt great to have them online.
